Dear IEEE Chapter Leaders, Advisors, and Students,
Happy Holidays! I would like to introduce you to an opportunity for you and your members to win up to $3,000 in a contest sponsored by several organizations here at MIT. Please pass this information along to whomever might be interested (like your chapter members). We need to know if you are interested in participating by January 3rd.
More information below and on the website: http://scripts.mit.edu/~mpp-ses/wiki/index.php?title=Design_Contest%21%21. Please read the full contest description posted on the website and contact me with any questions!

In January, 2008,
WIN UP TO $3000 Showing off your Engineering Prowess!
in a
Contest to design an electricity sensor that transmits the data
How much electricity do you use each month? Specifically where do you use it? If you’re like most consumers, you have little idea until you receive a utility bill. Our project aims to supply this information to consumers, as well as to encourage electricity savings.
We need you to design a system that will read the electricity consumption of a household, covert this to a digital signal, and send that data to a central database. Sound intriguing? We have ideas for the design, but maybe you’ll come up with something even better!
If you come up with the best design (with all the technical details worked out), not only will you win up to $1500, but you’ll also have the opportunity to be hired by the MIT Media Lab to design your prototype (expenses paid) for an additional $1500.
Application Deadline: Let us know you’re interested by January 3, 2008*
Phase One—Project Design Deadline: Midnight, January 23, 2008
Phase Two—Project Prototype Deadline: Midnight, February 3, 2008
